About damn time. Maybe people will finally be able to use delivery apps without getting random raj from whatthefuckistan who doesn’t speak a word of any language and doesn’t understand the concept of maps, addresses, streets and buildings.

Never had any issues with Indians, they speak good English and follow instructions to the letter. 90% of the time same can be said about Georgians, but my most weird experiences were with them. Like I order GEL150 order from Wolt store, leaving GEL5 as a tip, and courier calls me and says he cannot deliver my order to my apartment and even to my building’s door. So I had to put my clothes and coat on, go down and go 50m away from my house to get it from his car. Guess this is what the tips are for.

I don’t believe anyone in comments complaining about Georgian couriers are Georgians… of course there can be some general issues but for locals here all the issues were mostly caused by foreigners and finally something has been done for us citizens 🤣
Okay I understand Indians spoke good English but why I as Georgian am supposed to speak English when I am a client?

I don’t use those delivery services at all, but I feel like these kinds of regulations aren’t helpful.
Why not set a mandatory minimum pay and let the employers hire their employees so that the market can regulate itself.
I believe that English speakers in Tbilisi specifically order way more than locals. So having some English speaking delivery man would help, however letting people work for lower wages than locals can isn’t fair as well.
Overall this part of the law isn’t the worst.
I don’t understand why they ban people wo has no impact on the local economy?
I know a bunch of IT workers who purely work remotely for a foreign company bringing 3-4k usd a month to Georgia and having no impact on the local market. Now those guys cannot make IE since it is classified as “employment” and not an IE activity.
Their foreign companies couldn’t care less to start making independent contracts with those people, so they leave. But they bring at least 2M of pure clean profit to Tbilisi a month. Is this city too rich for it?
Directors also have to go through a long ass process. A couple of small business owning friends of mine who are providing specialized services are also thinking of leaving. It will be an unnecessary shock for no reason.
Why couldn’t they just regulate local employment and leave remote or business alone is beyond me. It would have been win-win
