      Von der Leyen can hardly be trusted to enact any meaningful policy or change. She’s demonstrated her hubris and incompetence many times over.

      The EU relies on the system of passive-aggressively declaring they’re starting to realize they can’t rely on the rules-based system anymore. Going on 18 years now (at least).

      Rules matter, but they only work when everyone agrees to follow them.

      Especially because the EU never relied on a “rule-based” system that is not “the West can do as it pleases” im the first place

      The problem with a rules based system, is countries like Russia and China don’t respect it. The US has figured this out, and the ousting of Mudero shows this. Although the EU interpretation on international law always needs reviewing because they have convinced themselves that Israel and the US attack on Iran is illegal when Iran has declared war on Israel and has used proxies it funds to attack Israel. International Law can’t really say you can’t strike a country back if it has attacked you. Iran has attacked Israel first.
