Yeah, people barely talk to strangers in bars here, this story sounds very imagined by an American. Not to mention most Lithuanians who speak English can spot an American accent.

Back in the day pretending to be from other countries was a cheap way to get laid, but it worked not for everyone, and people calling out bs may be real, or not. Tbf nobody gives a fuck about that, only that one salty guy. Also americans are known to be annoying, so that may be true.
