‘Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has said he wishes the party “hadn’t bothered” to take minority control of Worcestershire County Council, because of its financial problems.’

“Worcestershire, I have to say, we took minority control of a virtually bankrupt council, I wish we hadn’t bothered,” he said’

The words of a man who only views politics as a game of winning and losing and nothing to do with serving the public

  3. Single_Classroom_448 on

I regret him getting into politics, he should’ve just shut up and fucked off and the nation would be in a better position than it is now

  4. AllThatIHaveDone on

    > we took minority control of a virtually bankrupt council

How’s it going in the councils where you took majority control, Nigel?

  5. Noonecanseemenow on

Wait, you mean pithy soundbites, populism and sprinkling dogwhistle racism isn’t a magic cure for the countries ailments? Well knock me down with a feather.

No one forced you to run Nigel, and if you want to run the country there are far greater challenges to face.

Nigel Freewheeling Farage sleepwalking into another PR disaster. Dude has crashed out. By this point in the nutty right wing cycle he’d usually have fucked off to let someone else get embarassed by the nutters and pedos he associates with, but as an MP he now has some assumption of responsibility he’s too proud to walk away from.

  7. order-of-magnitude-1 on

If you can’t handle one country council how are you expected to cope with the whole country?

  8. Snaidheadair on

You’d have thought he’d know it’s easier to shout from the sidelines than to actually be the one running things by now, but I suppose he’s just a bit work shy in that area so would explain it.

  9. Cute-Cat-2351 on

So why did Reform run for office if they can’t solve problems?

  10. The_Oddler on

If they are bankrupt that must be because of all the redundant DEI positions right? Must be easy for them to find waste there and improve it all I imagine.

  11. badgerandcheese on

Translates to: Bloke regrets having to work.

If Reform and their ilk can’t run a council, how on earth does he expect to run the country and make tough decisions?

  12. lalabadmans on

The absolutely Irony coming from the leader of a party called “reform”.

If they wished they hadn’t bothered for a small council, wtf will happen if they have to govern a whole country?

  13. TheChattyRat on

I hope everything goes well when our losers vote him in because by the sounds of it a slight headwind and he’s given up. Governing is easy when there aren’t such things as budgets. Too bad nige.

  14. perkiezombie on

If they get into parliament this kind of thing is all we’re going to get for 5 years 🙃

  15. bukkakekeke on

He regrets getting into a position that involved responsibility and accountability because it showed him/Reform up almost instantly. He’s much better off criticizing from the backbenches.

  16. Broad-Raspberry1805 on

So you’re only going to be able to run councils that are already in surplus? And presumably that applies to the country’s finances as well.

He’s told on himself there hasn’t he. ‘We have no idea what we’re doing’.

Needs to be rammed down his throat at every opportunity.

  17. Jodeatre on

I mean Reform are morally bankrupt anyway so you’d think they’d be used to managing.

  18. Ok-Bedroom-2346 on

Now scale this up to an entire nation he plans to run. If you can’t beat the sandbox or easy levels you aren’t ready for hardcore mode.

  19. Its_pipo on

Bit rich coming from a man who’s made a career out of leaving things in a mess

  20. thebigbioss on

So reform are able to blame a previous tory leadership for why they have to think about raising taxes. And they had to ask labout for a bailout.

  21. So why is he putting himself forward to run the country overall then? Does he not know about the persistent budget deficit?

  22. oh_no3000 on

Does…..does he know how politics works and what politicians do? Local politics is a grind and you can’t just opt out.

  23. homieholmes23 on

I also sell snake oil but at a better price than Nigel if anyone keen

  24. RadiantRow5595 on

Farage just wants to talk, as soon as things get hard or he needs to do something, then he is useless

You want Trump junior, then vote for him

  25. FTXACCOUNTANT on

If he can’t fix a single council then he can’t fix the country

  26. BritishHobo on

    >”Take Worcestershire out, because of exceptional circumstances.”

The perfect illustration of how it’s going to be under a Reform government. No no, the bad bits don’t count.

  27. DoorFinch on

The year is 2030, and after scrapping a general election win the year previously, PM Farage announces that running the country has been too much bother.

“People voted for Reform to change the UK,” he said. “And I campaigned to win the election on that basis. But now I’ve discovered it’s a lot of work and effort, and not nearly as much fun as moaning about things from the sidelines. So we’ve decided we’re just going back to blaming everyone else, and taking no responsibility for anything. I enjoyed doing that.”

“This is all immigrants fault.” he added.

  28. Coupaholic_ on

If Reform ever get into government, I’ll bet good money that his resignation as PM would follow in a matter of weeks.

We already know he’s not capable. Here he proves he’s just not interested.

  29. Pazza_CJ on

Well he seems to think the country is down the shitter so perhaps he should pull out all of his MPs as well

  30. Sunnysidhe on

Now imagine him in charge of the country. Clearly out of his depth.

  31. Didst_thou_Farteth on

Just like the wrong kind of Brexit, he’s having the wrong kind of council. It’s never his or his cronies responsibility.

  32. HinDae085 on

How patriotic. “This council has financial issues so I regret even bothering to run here”

Grifter wanted to run an already successful council and claim credit lmao

  33. I’m sure this gives the people that voted for them a warm fuzzy feeling about their decision.
