      Sidelined? Is not being involved in a war a bad thing nowadays..

      Because they don’t know what on Earth they should say or do. It doesn’t seem fair to them what US is doing, but they neither are in position to go against the US.

      You can say this about the world. The EU is not unique in this right now. The USA and Israel have messed things up for near everyone

      Everything paralyses us lately. I think it’s us who are actually paralized. Both our left and right leaders are submissive.

      Honestly, the best thing Europe can do is to try to stay away from that shitty mess. Keep focusing on the russian threat and Europe instead. If anything, USA causing chaos in Iran, might weaken russia. The oil is a big problem of course, but just another reason that Europe needs to transition to clean energy and/or nuclear as fast as possible.

      The thing is the EU has no authority or capability to influence the Iran war. Von Der Leyen’s remarks are outside her jurisdiction. EU can’t really have a foreign policy in its current governing structure and is best left as economic and judicial regulator in its current state. Sure in the future there might be more integration that allows common foreign policy, but current structure doesn’t allow it.

      Not our fight. In America some people here twisting themselves in knots to justify and legitimize this.
