      The fact that he did it without seeking “permission” and is now filing a retroactive permit application… the town politicians need to flex and demand respect for their authority.

      When I see some of the architectural horrors – particularly around Milburngate and Framwellgate – that the authorities have allowed to despoil the city, I find it odd for them to get worked up about a painting of a toucan.

      This exact design is on pubs up and down the country

      If it really cost £7k to paint, I expect that cost was borne by Guinness, not the pub

      It’s a nice, cute little mural. Makes the pub look quirky and attractive. I didn’t even know you needed planning permission to paint your building,
