They are trying to become a real competitor to Allegro. They’re very far from it, because all the problems they still have to solve in Poland, Allegro already solved and has a big network effect. In Poland 90% of orders from Allegro arrive the next day, growing number the same day even. Buyer protections are excellent. And Allegro pays the difference to the merchants (on its platform) if the price is too high, just to have the lowest offer on the market.

5 billion euros sounds great until you remember Amazon workers in Poland are literally dying on the job and the labor inspectorate found their safety docs were outdated. You’re not investing in Poland Jeff you’re buying cheap labor with robots and calling it progress. Meanwhile Allegro already does next day delivery to 90% of the country without needing a press release about it.

I hope they get f*ked and Allegro keeps them out just like Żabka did with Seven Eleven

How is this good news? They only invest because tax exemptions and screwing over and over workers and here we ignore ot robototisation of planned facilities so not even jobs that are not longer even an issue..

4 billion to undercut pricing of other sellers so Amazon is the last one standing 5 years from now. 0,9 billion in ads. 100 million in infrastructure. Good luck Poland.

I have never used Amazon and I will make sure it stays that way

2.5 of these billions come from the giant tax discount the Italian government gave Amazon after finding tax fraud
