Not that I’m a cynic or anything, but these twinnings only benefit councillors going on twinning visits/junkets and sign manufacturers.
Yes, Longford is twinned with Sparks, Nevada, US.
Ennis is twins with Phoenix (USA), Langenfeld (Germany) and Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet (France) – so technically quadruplets.
But none of those towns are twinned with each other. Which makes you wonder what on earth the parents were up to.
Live in Kerry, Killarney is a “twin” town with 10 places, mostly for tourism purposes.
Rush is twinned with gourin in France and San Mauro castelverde Italy.
