I wish Ireland would take their massive tax receipts and build a Mazzucato-style innovation and investment system. Ireland could become the California of Europe if they wanted

I’ve been saying this for years, but the current government will never learn

Long term thinking doesn’t win you votes in Ireland. Short term lies is all we get

Did we need a report for something we all can see ourselves.

Why are billionaires that don’t even go here anymore funding a report?

  6. “The research appears to support a position that individual “geniuses” are the key drivers of innovation, rather than structural factors like education, capital formation and the rule of law.

Even so, any push to create a privileged tax regime for what are already very wealthy people would likely be politically challenging.”

From the Indo (paywalled) analysis of it.

Tax breaks for ‘tech talent’ may be needed to secure Ireland’s future growth, says new report

Lad how do I go about sorting myself out with one of these studies like ‘is the grass green’ or ‘Are one or two hands required to find the cheeks of ones arse’ I’m tired of working for a living.

Anybody has a link to the actual report? Given who has their sticky fingers in this, I would like to have a read of the details.

Around 15% of all government revenue comes from just 10 companies, and with most of that coming from just Apple and Microsoft alone – no fucking shit.

This time of tax windfalls will end eventually, and we will be left with fuck all to show for it

Collison runs a house in San Francisco, Tel Aviv and Limerick, and let me tell you, try it some time

Everyone knows this, but sure lookit, here we go again with the Collisons trying to take control of the narrative and strategically manoeuvre themselves into a position of influence.

Genuine question: what is the alternative? Who else would be willing to front up the levels of investment that US companies have? What is the alternative vision, or day-after plan? For all the moaning about overreliance on foreign multinationals, nobody seems to offer up any solutions.
