There is a push to limit car access especially in Dublin. How people without cars can care for their pets if they cannot bring them on the public transport?

I did not know this was the case and I think this is unacceptable.

Not only do I think animals should be allowed, I think that the humans should be banned

    3. NotoriousP_U_G on

Dogs don’t take FaceTime calls on speaker, so, they are less disruptive than 50% of people on Dublin buses

    4. CucumberBoy00 on

We shouldn’t subject the pets to be trapped with TikTok and YouTube shorts blasting on full volume

      Muzzle and short leash

      Abroad it’s the standard

Cry and moan about slán animal not to your liking enduring a whopping 5 to 15mins of journey

      Ireland it’s the standard

    6. TheDukeOfGonzo on

Yep. It’s public transport, it’s manly anyway

      Edit: manky, not manly

    7. Margrave75 on

      Within reason.

As someone who works in public transport, it’s bad enough dealing with cunts and their muscle dogs that aren’t allowed on services as things currently stand, god knows how emboldened they’ll be when they ate allowed on.

Had someone trying to get a brick shithouse of a pitbull yoke onto a train a few weeks ago, no collar, no muzzle, no leash, nothing!

Yes pets should be allowed on public transport, but I do think people should have to pay for it, and I think rules should be established. I.e. no dog not on a leash, no dog not muzzled, no cat not on a leash/or in a box. Public transport should serve public need, and people who live in apartments or houses without cars (which is a necessity if we want people to live in cities and not turn the entire island into a massive housing estate) need to be able to travel with their animals. Stop treating life in an apartment/flat and/or without a car as some kind of second class life.

Yeah, pets need transport too and if we are expected to become a society less dependent on personal cars then it should go without saying.
That being said, strict rules, actually enforced need ro be applied.

    10. The owners can’t pick up their pets shit as it is. Imagine the amount of shite on the buses

    11. wigsta01 on

Cats, dogs birds if caged/short leash etc I would consider…..

Spiders can fuck right fucking off!!!

The worst that could happen is one pees, some of the buses in Cork already smell of human piss. I think we should at least trial it, see how it goes.

My only concern is gobshites bringing dangerous dogs with muzzles.

    13. mannybianco7 on

Not currently, no. Not enough capacity for actual paying customers at peak times on the buses and Luas line that I use. I wouldn’t fancy being crammed in beside Anto and his husky on my way back from work for 80 mins in traffic.

Off peak and weekends I have no issue with.

I don’t have a problem with it per se myself but some caveats:

-Here in London, you will see people with dogs on the bus on seats. None of that (literal) shit, please.

-Some people are simply allergic, this will make transport difficult for them.

-It’s pretty easy to nod and smile at a sweet little golden retriever puppy or a chocolate Lab, but who really wants to share a bus with a slobbering 10 stone bully XL in a crowded space? Fucking nobody.

    15. Pale_Piano948 on

Same with people, as long as they behave acceptably in a public space and dont drag shit on the walls

Note: many people do not fit this category, beware of public transit, humans on board

    16. Speedodoyle on

No, pets smell, and can’t be controlled.

The dog in the picture is cut and a dream, but imagine a hissing pissy cat taking up a seat, shedding hair all over the place. Or a pet snake. Or a big Doberman with a muzzle.

    17. Couldn’t be any worse than some of the dogs that already use the Luas.

    18. Inside-Impression832 on

No, there’s issues with capacity for humans at the minute never mind adding dogs/cats/ferrets/hedgehogs to the mix.

    19. insane_worrier on

Have you seen some of the feral children on board?

I’ll take my chances with your Labradoodle or pet Llama

    20. DemonRanger33 on

No, difficult enough to deal with people. Introducing pets would make it 10x worse.

    21. ElvisMcPelvis on

In theory yes, no problem but people will take the piss & luas will be like Noah’s ark
