Feuding gangs really should just cop on and return to God
I was sent a video of what happened. Absolutely barbaric. I’m a veteran of seeing fucked up shit on the Internet but it was really bad. Don’t know how you could so violently attack someone, no matter how much you think you hate them.
I wish there could be a real conversation about the issues the community has. Probably does take people inside the community starting the conversation

I’ve always admired Iohn Connors for his acting ability and especially in love/hate to go against the stereotypical view of travellers as being criminal or violent. Well done to the man here 👊👍

Well, at least that’s an improvement over the usual “tis their culture and they can do no wrong” justifications you tend to hear from the community.
Fair play, at least someone is trying to talk a bit of sense into them (whether you believe in god or not). Attacks like this are barbaric and all too common.
If this was runts in city criminality, or individuals in concrete housing estates, they’d be call dirt bags, scum of the earth on here. “Lock em up” etc, etc.

The perpetrator/s, are scum, and animalistic to do this to a woman. I have not seen this video, nor do i want to. I’m not sure if it was commited by women, men, or both.

We all knew, right? I don’t think this is their problem to fix. It’s ours. One thing we should do is similar to the RICO predicate they used on the mafia in the US. Gang of bowsies with slash hooks? Lock them up for the gang element of it, no slashing required. Make it a bit easier to support the argument that many travellers are hard working and decent, by actually locking up the lunatics. Big Joe Joyce should have never seen the light of day after his first VHS, for example. But instead we treat him like some cheap joke.
I’m one of the softer ones on travellers, honestly. I understand the only ones I met are the ones coming after me for something, and there were many more quiet ones that didn’t mug me or shoplift when I was working etc. We can’t realistically protect or improve things for the quiet ones if we’re using our conciliatory bleeding hearts to let the head the balls run wild.
I genuinely think we’re caught in the middle of two opposing views on travellers that are both correct and incorrect. Nobody seems ok with a mix.
Can we not just go back to d’olden days of sulky racing, tarmac scams and robbing the h’alimnium?
If he can’t even stop the travellers what hope will he have with the Terminators.

While the sentiment of John Connors is there the reality is this man isn’t any kind of role model. It was him leading the charge against repeal in his community, shaming women and trying to keep them firmly back in the 1980s. By having that opinion he was happy for women in his community to have unwanted pregnancies, to travel abroad for medical help and to live in shame, and secret. This man is nothing more than an attention seeking misogynist.
Generations of inbreeding as to take its toll eventually.

The bigger issue here is lack of integration into society and a minimal level of education. We keep sending traveller women to college to do bullshit courses that have no employment other than in traveller ngo groups. The men and women of the community need to be encouraged into mainstream trades and third level education.
