      Surely this cannot be the same Paul Brannigan with convictions related to manslaughter , pubs brawls and car park shootings in the past ten years ?

      The brutality of this attack is beyond comprehension, and justice must reflect that. The harshest possible sentences should be imposed to protect the public and to honour the suffering endured by the victim.
