Lmao. I love how every attempt at rebuking the US is just funneling money toward America anyway.

This plane is built by Boeing. It feeds American shareholders regardless what you do.

Probably, because it makes sense. Germany wants a loyal wingman drone and there is no European comparable to it, not anytime soon at least. On top of that, MQ-28 was designed by Australia from the get-go to be operated alongside and by their F-35s. It’s the logical fit.

MQ-28 is quite an aircraft. US is even looking to buy large numbers as the role isn’t the exact same as the XQ-58. MQ-28 has dramatically larger range and payload, better maneuverability, etc. It’s the high end of the loyal wingmen, XQ-58 is more the lower end.

Loyal wingman drones aren’t supposed to fly for decades on end like their manned counterparts are, so use them up and replace them down the road, when there’s more European offerings, particularly ones that better align with their Eurofighters/FCAS/GCAP whatever the hell the long term manned fighter decision ends up being.

“Will Germany turn away from the US and instead buy from a subsidiary of a US defense company based in Australia, which follows the US’ every move?”

Coud be a huge mistake. In Australia, there is a big chance that One Nation party will win next elections, which is literally US Maga.

    Germany 🤦
We could do something nice with some european countries, but nooooo, they need to buy something from the US. (From Boeing). Again.

Germany will do the wrong thing that will keep it maximally entangled with the US and Russia.

Wasn’t a loyal wingman drone planned to be a German contribution to FCAS?

The sheer level of ignorance and stupidity in this thread again… breathtaking.

There are a **dozen companies**, many European, but also American, Australian and others (often in joint ventures with European ones) competing for a contract with the Bundeswehr, which intends to purchase a total of 400 fighter-bomber UAVs in two different classes (4-5 tons and 10 tons plus). **The MQ-28 Ghost Bat is just one of them!**

([Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t82jOTSf9So) on the issue, already a few weeks old)

It’s a potentially very lucrative deal, so of course many companies try to pitch their product, including Boeing Australia. Why shouldn’t they? **This is a completely normal process!**

There is a need and it will be filled. But by whom and how is not decided yet at all, especially when domestic giants like Airbus and Rheinmetall, plus startups like Helsing are also in the race with their own solutions.
