Iran is no sweatheart, this war is going to rampage through the world economy hitting a lot of poor economies much harder than it will hit us (and it will hit us hard), but there is a part of me finds this war hilarious in how utterly useless Trump is. The end result is going to either a) a drawn out ground war that makes everything even worse and Trump lose credibility even harder, or b) Iran effectively wins, shows it can beat America, and also gains territory (in the sense that it perpetually taxes the straight). (even I don’t believe c) Trump nukes Iran into oblivion and then takes over and makes Middle Eastern America, but anything can happen)
Stepping back from the infuriating insults he keeps spewing, this could be a good thing for shifting policy in a direction that is needed. Forcing the government and Parliament as a whole to face the realities of their policies on North Sea oil and gas and the erosion of the military, especially the navy, could potentially push them towards making some much needed changes.
In the short to medium term increased North Sea production would be beneficial and support the change over to renewable energy and nuclear while helping keep costs down (yes, I am aware this isn’t immediate, but still needs doing realistically). The fallout from Cyprus and the need to provide escorts to keep oil flowing from the Middle East (as the truth is we need it and not just for fuel) could push us to increase domestic naval production, which increases economic movement.
Get our own oil after the war he started. This guy blames everyone else apart from himself. No one said to go invade Iran

Genuine question: for such an insignificant backwater island, why do the ‘villains’ of the world all seem totally obsessed with us? Trump, Musk, Putin, the Iranian regime themselves… what is it about us in particular that rubs them up the wrong way? It’s like in their heads the British Empire still exists and they don’t understand why we’re not ‘doing anything’ if that makes sense.
