Why? Corporate greed – no need for an entire article.
Rat milk and sand.
Shareholders, stock buybacks prioritised first
Actually, I am uninformed here, I would have sneaked a few squares every nowband then of cooking chocolate as a child and went on to bake with normal chocolate bars as an adult. Is cooking chocolate still out there and is it wrong to eat? My undeveloped pallet didn’t taste a real difference.
The price of Cacao has gone through the roof in recent years, droughts in the growing regions. Presumably they’re just filling it with crap to compensate.
Enshitifcation
Ah, chocolate without the (expensive) chocolate…
Big chocolate has become big cockolate.
Replacing dairy fats with palm oil. That’s why chocolate seems real greasy and tastes different. It’s cheaper to produce.
Seasonal chocolate flavour ovoids,
It’s muck
I swear to God I’ve never heard someone mention this in person, but reddit is obsessed
Rename Easter to Palm Oil Sunday…
> It’s a fact that the cost of cocoa is rising
[I am so fucking sick of our lazy bastard media and the shit they let liars and gougers get away with, time and time again.](https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/cocoa)
It seems we have a journalist among our community: Reddit is a key source for the article. It’s a pretty good article, well researched and factually accurate
People complain about Cadburys. Yet people still keep buying it.
Come on now, we all know why. How is this news?
The price of cocoa is at a 2 year low, dropping by more than half.
The problem is corporations that “must” increase profits every year by as much as they can, and the fact that a dozen mega corprations own the companies that supply most of our goods.
It’s not viable and you are going to lose in the end.
Title should be ” why people arent buying big choclate”
Its obvious less people are buying mainstream palm oil choclate. Wont be long untill we beat them into submission.
