      So what exactly was the purpose of France sending all those ships to the region? As usual, France are great at posturing and giving the impression of being a “powerhouse”, but when it comes time to actually do something they dont want to know. Macron already got his photo opportunities, as far as he’s concerned it’s mission accomplished.

      France, Russia, and China also blocked the second resolution to authorize the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

      Interesting… from Russian point of view, ground invasion probably would be net win… but at cost of loosing Iran. But with China and France vetoes, they can veto too and still look like trusted Iran’s allies.

      As I understood from the article, there hasn’t been a vote yet. 

      Apart from the three countries mentioned, there are several others in the council of ten that do not support the resolution.

       On the other hand, why would the Gulf countries need this resolution if their territory is being shelled, and thus they already have a perfectly legal casus belli to declare war on their own?

       So it’s quite possible that not everything is as simple as it seems. 

      Likely, the Arab countries do not want to be seen as taking the same side as Israel and the US, who are acting as the aggressors in this war.

      The good company of (checks notes) two countries with some of the worst human rights records of the planets. One of them is currently invading Ukraine while the other watches and prepares its own wars of imperialist expansion.

      Why should that be celebrated?

      Does France need to cast a vote? If not should have played dumbed and abstained.

      Iran, for one, wouldn’t give two shits about “justified war”, given they have been happily enabling Russian in wrecking Ukraine and EU in the future.

      Russian and its enablers are on the same page when it comes to whacking western countries, no matter what. It is only western powers bickering among themselves.
