Ahead of Bulgaria’s parliamentary elections on April 19, the scale of Russian propaganda has reached unprecedented levels. In response, Bulgarian authorities have established a dedicated mechanism under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to counter hybrid threats. The move aims to ensure a coordinated institutional response to foreign interference and information manipulation during this critical political period.

Ukraine has long been confronting similar Russian disinformation efforts, working to counter manipulative narratives and prevent the spread of fake news aimed at discrediting Ukrainians globally.
