I’m fully in favour of people protesting and this is a decent method tbf, but their demands are stupid – how can the government cap fuel prices, it’s a global commodity the price is beyond their control
These protesters are absolute scum. We are the ones who get fucked at the end of the day. They pass on these costs to the consumers regardless.
This affects the average person’s day not the politicians. Why hurt us. What do they gain by this ? but only the hatred from normal people trying to go about their daily life.

Selfish pricks think they are the most important groups of people in Ireland. Their businesses are hurting but f other businesses that are also struggling not to mention the general public.
The dream would be people start parking in front of their farms/businesses to block access to see how they would accept that “inconvenience”.
Cunts. My already sleep deprived missus was 9 hrs on the road today doing a 4 hr drive to her elderly parents to collect our kid who was with them. Mother in law had to reschedule a hospital appointment cos she had the gosson. She was in tears sitting in the car. Fuck them. Every last one of the bastards.

Farmers – while important – have been indulged for far too long in their methods of protest. I’m all for protests, we should do much more of it, but no other group would get away with this level of disruption to everyone else in this country. Clear them out.
Im replying this to a few comments.
The protest want the government’s slice of the €2.20 per liter to be capped at 0.60 cent ( which was their portion before the war) . So government isn’t really losing out on any money and the price of fuel stays affordable.
Their fuel cost has nearly doubled. Yet cant charge more for the food they produce because the factories and supermarkets are also at breaking point of people not being able to afford food.
The farmers are the first to fall.
We all follow.

This sub is the biggest echochamber ever. Not a single person i know outside of this sub is against this protest, but by this sub you would swear no one in the public agrees with this. Everyone seems disgusted that a protest will cause disruption as if that isnt the point.

I never understood how targeting the general public with hardship is a strategy for winning sympathy for your plight.
They may have a valid point surrounding excise on fuel that could be cut at least temporarily specifically for commercial use, but because they’re cunts I’m hoping the government use private companies to assist in seizing and impounding each and every vehicle and use release fees and cuts in agriculture subsidies to pay for it.
I can’t believe the comments here. Do people not realise the increased costs farmers, contractors etc will have a direct correlation to food prices in 6 months time?
Everything from your tray of mince meat, butter, milk, cheese etc is going to increase again. I work in the Agri sector and the price increases that are being applied almost over night make Covid and the start of the war in Ukraine look like child’s play. Silage wrap, fertiliser, feed etc. It’s completely unsustainable.
Take the farmers out of it. Your ordinary joe soap commuting from Kildare or further a field end up spending a €100 extra in diesel a week, that’s a €100 not spent in the local restaurant or shop.
The comments above aren’t very sympathetic to what could result in a recession.
Would love to see the breakdown of people for/against this protest and where they live.
Locally absolutely everyone supports them and can see the good they’re trying to achieve but the Reddit population sees them as an ignorant scourge
