Good to see, I don’t think people fully realise how much of threat these invasive deer are to biodiversity in Ireland, not to mention destroying fences and walls and running out in front of cars

She strikes me as an absolute mental case… kept pigs to kill and eat them to prove she could and now wants to hunt deer but is not a “natural born killer” shes not doing this for the deer, or the country, she just wants to hunt but doesn’t want to be judged.
Plenty of lads out for the yearly culls without the need for attention about it.

You’d be hard pushed to find any sensible person who’s against hunting for conservation purposes, but what are people’s thoughts on hunting native wild animals for food? Obviously no endangered species, but something like shooting ducks or pheasants? So long as the animal is killed in a humane way and as much if the animal as possible is utilised, are people generally accepting of this too or are most against it?
I understand this subs hatred for fox hunting so let me be clear that I’m not talking about that either.

I’ve planted a native forest in Wicklow 12yrs ago. It’s impossible for it to really progress due to deer crazing and stripping. Honestly I’m not sure if culling by shooting 1 or 2 by myself every now and then will do much. Now if there was big financial incentive people will get out or if they had a natural predator like a lynx would work better.
Tbh we are at nothing planting native trees till deer are eliminated. For example I planted a massive amount of bluebells last year. The deer are nibbling down to ground. The won’t flower or spread seed. This is just one plant.
