What a shitshow. Can’t imagine the extra stress this will put some of those students under – there needs to be a thorough investigation which holds those responsible to account (wishful thinking, I know).

“unfortunately, they didn’t tell us you only attended on the weekend”

    **AT** the weekend.

This is ridiculous. At least some of the courses offered “intensive” weekend hours.

My full time degree had 8 hours of contact time a week but spread out over the week. That could easily be done across 2 days of the weekend if they were put on at the same time instead.

This is stupid, the SLC should have known what was eligible and not *before* giving out money.

If I didn’t properly assess someone and mistakenly gave them money, that’d be *my* problem for being shit at my job.

They should just do better next time and suck it up as a learning experience.

    Edit: oh look,

    > One letter, from the SLC and seen by the BBC, says the student’s university provided incorrect information and “unfortunately, they didn’t tell us you only attended on the weekend”.

So it’s the university’s fault. The SLC should be contacting *them* instead
