Who gave James Geoghegan and John Dallan (and their fellow travellers) the right to hold this country to ransom? To claim to speak for Ireland, to threaten the viability of business and the livelihoods of others? Who do these people think they are?
Geoghegan also called on Martin to step down as Taoiseach.
“Micheál Martin is actually not in control. The **people of Ireland are in control**,” Geoghegan said.
“**We have every motorway roadblock, every business shut down, and this is going to change Ireland forever**, because the people of Ireland are literally sick and tired of being bullied and robbed for years. And it’s it, and that’s the mandate we have.”.

Why does everyone else’s business and personal life have to go to the wall for these folk?
Does each industry sector get to decide to shag the rest of the country whenever they require a something from the government?
The extreme of this is Doctors and medical professionals deciding not to treat anyone until their demands are met? But this doesn’t happen, strikes and protests are carried out with a level of respect and care for the rest of the population.

While we all agree that fuel prices are high, it should be pointed out to these protesters that they don’t represent the people of Ireland. They only represent themselves and an industry sector.

I’m sorry but this pisses me off. I work in a centre for adults with learning disabilities and a lot of them travel home on community transport. I mean it’s clearly not a protest anymore? The country is being held to ransom by the workers who take the most hand outs from the government couldn’t make this shit up. Drop the fuel price as low as you can go. Then let’s drop the farmers’ subsidies as the money has to come from somewhere.

Reddit is apparently full of useless moderates who claim to be leftist.
Ireland has fuck all protest culture and when workers from multiple industries finally converge together for the common good of all people, people eat up the same propaganda that the ruling class has been using against workers for centuries ie: Reframing the protest as something more sinister, pitting workers against each other, threatening the use of the army, and claiming it’s disrupting vital infastructure (hospital appointments, people getting to work etc). We need this protest to go well so we have a framework to finally stop being passive, fearful goats who don’t action anything when the catholic church, FF/FG masticate us. We need to learn to protest. its insane how easily some of you fall for propaganda but will go with what Me-hole Shartin’ is saying, all while taking digs at farmers who frequently kill themselves cause of how economically unviable their profession is. Government hasn’t given a fuck about your cancer appointment, your house, your transport or your work for years but suddenly they care now?
Essentially, stupid people want the protesters to disrupt without disrupting them, or to do it “peacefully” AKA: Do a shitter protest that makes the whole thing ineffective. Loads of “leftists” claim to love protest and change, but when it shows up at their door they actually just want to maintain order, and keep protest and revolution to merely something they dream about. I hate the few far-right heads who have hijacked an otherwise anarchist movement the same as you do, but you have to recognize that that your reticence to endorse them ***in this issue*** is part of the reason why the establishment continues to thrive in making your life shit: You are part of the problem.
On a personal note: As someone from Donegal I am sick and tired of Dubs complaining about anything related to travel. It is incredibly frustrating to be the only county without a train service (for 60 years), a bus service where stops are frequently late or skipped entirely, and an airline service that we had to fight to keep as it was almost cut (a route that is frequently used by cancer patients to get to Dublin for treatment). Nevermind the defective block crisis leaving our homes crumbling that we get fuck all support from (Dubs who were affected got a grant/compensation almost immediately), one of the longest hospital waiting list times in the county, and a general feeling that Dubs just simply don’t give a fuck about us cause we’re just backwards culchies. Dubliners have so many options for transport and opportunities etc. it’s lead to a feeling that poltics is something that is done to non-dubs as opposed to with them. I don’t know if other counties feel the same. I feel so unheard, so powerless and dejected from others struggles because I haven’t been allowed to participate in so long.
Sincerely,

Always nice to see the inherent contradiction of these arseholes saying that they’re incredibly necessary and need corporate welfare, but can simultaneously threaten to sit on their holes for a month and underpay other people to do their jobs for them, showing that they’re drains on the economy.
All that stuff gets exported anyway, so they provide exactly jack shit for the country, while causing us to pay to compensate for their incredibly low carbon tax rate, despite being massive contributors of carbon emissions.
It might be time to end the corporate welfare system in this country, because these lads are taking the piss. Sell one of your 100-150k tractors and you’ll be fine. We shouldn’t have the country held hostage by some rich dipshits sucking up EU subsidies and taxpayer money, whille they provide nothing of value, and throw a fit at the expense of every other worker in the country that activity contributes to it.
