Incredibly depressing that this didn’t happen 10 or 20 years ago. Should not be limited to Russian spies of course.

I wouldn’t stick to just Russian ones.
I’d also point to American and Chinese operatives- if not spies, then lobbyists.

The US has repeatedly wanted to annex Greenland, and its recent actions in Hungary and support for Germany’s AfD are clearly designed to fracture Europe.
And China is certainly no friend to Europe.

Still, I doubt the initiative will be expanded- it would hit too many members of the European Parliament.

Ban tracksuits and watch them scarper like rats on a sinking ship

Now do the same for the US government and Israeli spies, only a handful would be left lol

Should have chat control, but instead of politicians being the ones omitted from it, they should be they ones solely subjected to it

Won’t happen. Politicians are exempt from Chat Control 2.0.

Making the legislation transparent might be a good start. If you cannot tell who and when write the given piece of the law is not a democracy.
