Isn’t the point of NATO to have essentially a shared army? Stop with this propaganda. It’s been coming out in the news since 2022 and it’s there to softly butter us up into accepting conscription. Pack it in.

Good. For being an island with oversea territories our navy is a joke. We have more admirals than we do operating warships. With the US proving to be unreliable and rising threats across the world we need to be able to protect ourselves and nation which has steadily been more and more neglected.

I get the logic of preparedness but the messaging matters because “ready for war” sounds like panic politics
If it’s about resilience it should focus on practical stuff supply chains cyber defence and civil contingency planning not scary headlines
Also would be good to see what’s actually new here versus existing emergency planning just rebranded

For those who don’t bother to read the article, this isn’t “The UK is planning to ready the nation for war”, it’s “the UK is renewing it’s plans that are used in the event of war”.
It’s not “get ready for war”, it’s “here’s what we do in the event of war”.
