This is it lads, 15 minute cities are going to be in full effect! /s

if they do aim to end the blockades it’ll surely be one of the most complex operations for the gardai in a long time, multiple sites/heavy machines/media coverage and possible far right involvement looking to attack them

I’ll believe it when I see it, after their army bluff the other day (that our media seems to have memory holed in record time by the way).

Edit – one Irish Times article to be fair https://www.irishtimes.com/opinion/2026/04/09/sinead-osullivan-calling-in-the-defence-forces-against-fuel-protesters-is-a-huge-strategic-error/

Good lads, give them hell, the softly softly approach should have ended days ago..

Literally just got a call off a Garda that my Gardai Bikesafe workshop for Sunday got cancelled. Looks like they’re mobilizing the entire force.

Penny seems to be dropping with the Garda HQ that the softly softly approach is getting us nowhere

I hate both sides in this issue.

    – The government, because they’re a bunch of wankers, taxing fuel at 60% and refusing to force WFH to save fuel.

    – The shitbag protesters who keep increasing their list of demands and blocking off people going to the airport, hospital, etc. They should instead block off the US embassy and Lenster house.

I wonder have the Guards much fuel in the cars/ vans & bikes?

Seems to be optics at the moment. Lots of talk about action. Hardly any action. I don’t think from an operational point of view these protestors can be moved.

  10. Ok-Iron8789 on

I wonder is there an anti protest to the protest tomorrow.

Wouldn’t like to be the family of any of the protestors – they had better have cash bail handy. No doubt there will be late night Courts too. A fair few lads will be missing their kids Communions.

I support that fact that people have the right to protest in Ireland

Hope every f truck and tractor gets unpaid toll fines

    > ‘exceptional event’

    Mating season for the burkes

The keyboard warriors hoping the Guards knock the shite out of protesters in here is a laugh a minute, jaysus wept.

  16. Regulators! We regulate any blocking of fuel in the country, and up to now, we’ve been damn passive too. But you can’t be any babyface from Templemore. Gotta be handy with the water cannon if you know what I mean. Regulators, mount up!

Should have the courts running 24/7 to sort them out like they did in the U.K. after civil unrest.

  18. Legitimate_Newt2874 on

It’s about time those blockading thugs and their scummy leaders were taken on.

  19. Individual-Mud262 on

They need every guard to stand around and watch these mongrels eat breakfast rolls. Do something, protect the country

Blockade went to far. If goes on further people will die. It was stupid selfish self defeating tactic. We will see laws to stop this ever happening again. Some the “leaders” they had speaking, were exposed for animal abuse and being far right facebook nutters. We have people screaming about immigrants, trans people and the usual hatred from the far right. No discipline of message, just threat the general public that they will bring the coutry to the knees. This was never a protest, but blockade to hold us all hostage. That is unacceptable and can nver happen again.

So we have James Geoghegan who owes €550k and had 65 dead cattle on his land. (https://www.rte.ie/news/2026/0410/1567612-james-geoghegan/)

John Dallon who was convicted of drunk driving. (https://www.independent.ie/regionals/motorist-who-failed-to-give-breath-sample-disqualified/26982868.html)

Chris Duffy who was jailed for non-payment of farm machinery and said he “couldn’t care less if she got raped or beaten” in relation to Greta Thunberg. (https://m.independent.ie/farming/agri-business/three-nights-in-prison-almost-broke-this-agricultural-contractor/35623727.html)

Tom McDonnell who believes we need to get young women “breeding again” (https://www.thejournal.ie/last-council-seat-women-breed-more-kildare-6408002-Jun2024/)

And every other sort of far-right head banger from Phil Dwyer to Gavin Pepper to Derek Blighe now all over this like a fly in shite.

This is what you’re supporting folks, be in no doubt.

They have withdrawn from Whitegate which means they’re gearing up to remove them and will return in force to give them 1 last chance after which loads are going to end up with criminal records in all likelihood.

They’ve made their point. It’s time to go home. Nothing good can come from remaining now
