The thing is, he is just a front man. On the issue e.g. of Ukraine membership of the EU, probably half if not more of the EU member states are hiding behind him to oppose it purely on agriculture issue. The next will probably be Fico, or Babis, or whatever populist gets elected next.
There are many leaders who share many of his foreign policy positions but used him to hide away from the fact these policies are incredibly unpopular domestically.
