Labour does have a massive comms problem tbf, but also, the above is no accident either, so even if they did have something to say, it wouldn’t be allowed through. We aren’t too long away from having right wing views injected directly into the brain at birth.

They really have no idea, a sanitised centralised Labour YouTube channel will be as popular as a wet fart.
Labour already had a popular online presence but they blew it up because they couldn’t handle descenting voices.

A headline that basically amounts to “government creates a youtube channel”.
Not particularly interesting, I can’t imagine many people will be watching state propaganda with any sincerity, and will do wonders for the online activists react channels by giving them content to pause and have a one sided argument with sentence-by-sentence.
The important question will be whether the comment section is turned on or off. That’s where the real fun is going to be.

They thinks we’re all so stupid. Nobody is going to watch their propaganda pushing YouTube channel other than to laugh at it. I’d bet my house on them turning off comments for the channel too.

Have to say its great to see the government upping their communications strategy, its kind of wild how so few people know what they are doing.

Why doesn’t the government support a UK Youtube?

The left wing on social media is what stops people from voting left wing. Or how about you just do a good job of running the country and you might gain support?

What’s the difference between a conspiracy and a fact? About 2 weeks. I write this knowing that you’ll down vote me but I don’t care.
Remember when blocking out the sun was a conspiracy and they admitted it in the house of parliament? Yeh it happens all the time but people soon move on the next work event.

I’ve been mulling over it for a while, but I wonder whether it would be possible or good to demand that all algorithmic feeds (video, Twitter, Reddit etc.) to be required to “inform, educate, entertain” in that order. Hard to enforce, but egregious examples could well be punished. Could make for far far better public discourse over 20 years or so.

I can’t be the only one that is just a bit fatigued by the use of terms like “far-x” as a slur nowadays. It feels like an ad hominem rather than an actual takedown of policy which is what political debate should be about.
The Greens are bad news because their stated policies are unlimited immigration, nuclear disarmament, rent control, etc. All things which I would claim are obviously bad ideas for almost everyone, and can articulate why if needed.
The Tories are bad news because they spent 10 years basically doing the opposite of what they claimed they would. There would be no lockdown, then it would be a few weeks to flatten the curve, then suddenly we’ve spent hundreds of billions on all sorts of arbitrary things, very fiscally conservative. Oh and hundreds of thousands of non-EU immigrants.
I’m just fed up of labels, anti-this, far-that, “extreme” this. They don’t actually mean anything, they just come in to play when someone wants to bias a discussion, like using a mug shot or dramatic music in a video.

What is this government actually doing.
If they want to fight conspiracies it’s pretty easy to put huge amounts of friction on it
Ban gb news due to offcom stuff
Talk tv
No foreign or foreign residing millionaire and billionaire donors for political parties or owning British media.
Offcom enforcement against telegraph and daily mail think tank studies that are based on deliberately misinterpreting data for misinformation headlines.
Make Twitter politics unavailable for the uk
And leave everything else alone
It’s not that hard

Good that they’re trying but I doubt that Musk, Zuck etc will let there videos gain any traction. They want the disinformation and hatred to spew so people try to fight each other across racial, sexuality, gender lines etc instead of looking at the rich fucks hoarding all the wealth whilst more people constantly can’t afford the basics in life.

These type of phrases irritate me. I find half the time it’s just used to minimise and silence people, rather than address their concerns or beliefs.
Also worth remembering that so called conspiracy theorists were predicting digital ID’s years ago, and look where we are today.

People are simply just too ready to believe that they’re being mugged off by ‘The system’ and are always so easily convinced that minorities are the cause.
Nothing will change so long as there’s hate and suspicion, so banning one medium will only serve to push the bigots and morons to another.
Education and the ability to actually apply critical thought are the only solutions to the scourge of pathetic conspiracy theories and oppressive ideologies.

We could just stop giving so much power to foreign websites..
I don’t think the internet was as bad when not everything was centralised. Labour have killed that with the OSA forcing everyone onto websites owned by large businesses whose sole goal is to keep you scrolling as much as possible.
But by giving all this power to those company’s they can control a narrative. Look at how many journalists and politicians still communicate though X. A platform owned by a far right nubjob. Of course any sort of counter message to what shite he’s spewing is never going to get the same reach.
