  1. At the moment it looks a bit like we are going to face rolling civil service/public service strikes. The latest reading on the next pay deal is grim to say the least.

Here we go again. There needs to be a removal of the top heavy systems that would free up more than enough money

And we just cut tax revenue (I know some of it will be made back with the increase in prices)

This has been coming for a very long time. Paramedics are one of the most underpaid occupations in Ireland. They’re still paid as if they’re just ambulance drivers

    Holy shit not critical infrastructure

We must give them everything they need or more since they’re vital, vital to the country and anything like a muti day delay is a criminal offence

Hope they get their heads caved in, have their tax records analysed and thrown in prison never to work again

    Am I doing this right?

Money, money everywhere but not a drop for me

(I support the paramedics, they are staffed at half the rate of their Scottish comparators)

Everybody is feeling pissed off one way or another, it’s been policy after policy and total lack of leadership.

There’s been all sorts of crisis and emergencies for well over a decade now. Nobody even talks about homelessness or the health service anymore. They were just left to burn.

Now pretty much the whole public service who don’t get HAP and can’t afford to buy have had enough.

Under this government 2 years from now accountants and solicitors will be blocking O Connel Street because they are struggling and zero leadership or decision will be shown unless a hotelier donor or supermarket boss needs something done.

People will carry on voting for FG though who will fill the Internet with people accusing protestors of being right wing in left wing forums and left wing in right wing forums.

The same people who were posting about deregulation the taxi industry during the taxi strikes and wanting the truck drivers skulls cracked during the truck driver strikes will have their turn to be squeezed.

There needs to be a joined up effort with all workers realising we are all getting shafted.

There is currently a desperate need to advertise the trades to people because the horrible situation where tradesman are now actually asking for the union rates, by the time these apprentices come through there wont be a shortage anymore and tradesmen will be back hustling for 600 euro a week. AI will probably get nearly everyone else one way or another.

  8. €38,008 a year for a paramedic

Who is more qualified than an EMT or EMR

Needs to know basic critical care skills, resuscitation, drugs, after a university degree or long apprenticeship

See and help ppl in literal pieces, go to the most unsafe neighbourhoods, deal with people at their worst, and the worst of people

They are better than most doctors at resuscitation and emergency care but get paid half of a reg dr. Medical and surgical senior drs would have no idea how to fully manage and transport a patient (with no history, bloods, scans) yet they get piss poor pay for a job very few could do

    They should block the road.

    That’s allowed in this country.

I don’t support this at all. They’re causing massive public inconvenience, getting in the way of medical treatment and they’re putting ordinary people’s lives at risk. /s

  11. how dare they inconvenience people, it’ll cost them support, i agree with their aim but this is the wrong way to do it etc etc

People trying to equate the national ambulance service going through unions to organise a strike, and the shite that went on last week, are intellectually dishonest at best, and outright delusional at worst.

They’ve got a plan, they *voted* for this overwhelmingly (last week they didn’t have the backing of a vast majority of farmer/Hauliers, as they were businesses and contractors not affiliated with unions), and they’ll engage in activities while leveraging their position which directly benefits the country, unlike the shower last week spreading lies about how important farmers are for food production here (we export 80% of what they produce).

Most of all, they won’t engage in illegal activity, or hold the country to ransom.
