Aurdøla si trova tra le valli Valdres e Hallingdal, collegata a Hedalen nella Norvegia centro-orientale. Sembra che ogni pezzo di terreno relativamente pianeggiante sia stato storicamente sviluppato dagli esseri umani in Norvegia, e sulla mappa Aurdøla sembra che sarebbe stato un buon posto per costruire una fattoria. Qualcuno sa perché non è mai stato sviluppato o abitato?

no local knowledge of this area,but i bet elevation has something to do with it. looks like it is about 800m, and that means longer winter,colder,more snow for longer in spring etc.
Also, is there fertile soil or is it a quarry?
plenty of flat places not farmed,Hardangervidda for instance.
because flat does not always mean farmable.
(at high elevations farms are usualli on south or southwest slopes, to get more sun.)
This area is known as Vassfaret which was inhabited and has a rich history. Aurdøla is the name of the river.
