The PiS leader also repeated the repeatedly debunked fake news claims that Magyar had cooked a dog in a microwave and beaten his ex-wife. The leader of the Polish opposition also insulted Hungarians, stating that a society that votes for people like Magyar is “a bit sick.”
“I was talking about his actions in his private life, which are simply unbelievable—the kind that should disqualify anyone participating in public life, and if they don’t, it means that society is, after all, a bit sick,” Kaczyński said. When asked to clarify his statement, the PiS chairman replied that he was referring to “what his (Magyar’s—ed.) wife describes, that he roasted a puppy.”
The journalists gathered around Kaczyński immediately tried to inform him that he was spreading misinformation.
“You claim it’s not true, but I’m taking into account various verified accounts of his actions, the investigation under the table, which is verified, and I believe that’s possible, but also the beating of his wife,” Kaczyński stated, adding another piece of fake news to the first. “This is a man to whom I will not offer my congratulations,” said the PiS chairman, adding that “such people should have no place in the public life of Poland or the world.”
