That will be more subsidies to EV… wonderful. In cities, you can walk, use public transportation, bikes. No car needed… But you cannot live there due to insane costs of housing. Will they do anything about it?
No. It will just more unaffordable. Housing costs must go up, and up, and up.

The thing we should have done anyway a while ago for several reasons – including the inevitable next fossil fuel price shock.
Better late than never. Time to double down on grid upgrades.
Increase CO2 tax, kill fossil subsidies, internalize costs, use such tax income for electrification upgrades and incentives.
Think that’s going to be an accelerated global trend truth be told. Watching the IMF new conferences today and having enough energy seems to be a trend. Also elsewhere, AI now looking at charging users will hopefully keep a lid on that demand.
Hopefully this means a big push for EV’s and getting old polluting ICE cars off the streets. Would love to see more small EV’s like the Citroën Ami in city centers.
Though one thing’s clear — China’s going to be the big beneficiary as they sell more solar panels, batteries and windmills.
What about big trucks?
I understand is annoying to pay high gas when putting fuel in the car
But for the economy the impact on delivery of goods is probably much worst than end customers paying more
Is there already reliable eletric big trucks ? That’s probably where some incentive to electrify is needed and with higher impact in the economy?
Giving more incentives to eletric cars .. always feels like a subsidy to rich people.
The fuel price is enough incentive, people already want an electric car, if they don’t get is because they don’t have a garage to charge or the cars are not yet there in terms of autonomy .. and in the end of a subsidy to use more car and less public transport
At this point there’s literally no sane reason to be against renewables.
Even if you only focus on the economical reasons, it would be moronic to opose them.
Its not a bet, its inevitable.
And its better to be early, than scramble at the last minute.
