They thought he was a shoo in. I can’t say I’m a fan of FF and their cynical selection of celebrity candidates. To think he might have had a chance to be on a salary of €330,000+ guaranteed for at least 7 years and he didn’t think it was worth paying back the €3,300 for that! He would have had some hope if he had paid it straight away even at the beginning. Its completely illogical that he didn’t. It seems he still doesn’t get it.

Among the most horrendously embarrassing campaigns anyone has run in Irish politics.
So bad that it effectively overshadows everything Gavin did in life before hand and anything he’s likely to do after. It will be the first thing most people think when they hear his name, or see him aimlessly shuffling around Dublin City muttering to himself about betrayal and attempting to remember basic facts about his own life and financial dealings.

I have never seen a guy blow up a stellar reputation as quickly as this guy. He’s clearly a bit pompous idiot. To think he thought he could get away with running for president, in a country with a housing crisis when he is a landlord of the scumbag variety. The fact that he did this to a journalist shows an extra level of arrogance and stupidity that he thought he could get away with it.
