Hilarious that post Brexit, Germany bailed on their project with Britain because they wanted to do it with an “EU partner” and now that has blown up in their face.

France and germany thing was dead along time ago. This fighter based thing requires like airbus alot of countries and experience. It looks like.
>In industry circles close to the FCAS negotiations, there are now fears that Merz will be persuaded next week by Macron to continue with the project, instead of considering alternatives. These could involve developing two separate aircraft while continuing cooperation on the other components of the system – the “two-fighter solution”.

The EU is very behind in jet development and still has the appetite for these cat fights. The US and China have been flying 5th gen for years, and their 6th gen are test flying in the sky already. Even medium powers like Russia has lossy but still 5th gen SU 57, and South Korea has KF 21. I think even the Turkey and Japan own programs are further ahead than the EU ones.
For the next 10 years the EU is probably stuck with 3-4th gen planes, or buying F35 from the US that it is so eager to be independent from.

In conclusion we don’t know anything until there’s an official announcement. Useless to jump to conclusions here people.

My guess is the solution they land on will be a shared turbine two fighter concept.
Specifically, the core of the issue is that there are certain parts of the jet engine that only the French can make, as the only other European power which has the capability for these specific components is England.
The Germans and the French work together to make the propulsion unit, and then each build their own jet, like they did for the Tiger helicopter.
Really sucks that dassualt is such a stick in the mud though.

I don’t remember anyone saying that Europe needs carrier capable fighters. Solution is continue relying on USA? Fck my life.
I say go France. Do it alone if you have to. Germany has been blind so many times over last 20 years. Utterly bad for the EU with so many failed policies.
