I’m no linguist, but looking at this made me realize vēlēšanas and elections does sound similar. Remove the “v” and you’ve got elešans, which sounds pretty similar to elections.
the map is retarded overall, the ukrainian word and the russian word are super similar in pronunciation so both should be “vybory”
