“Il governo olandese sta considerando una riduzione temporanea delle tariffe per i trasporti pubblici come una delle misure per aiutare i cittadini a far fronte ai prezzi più alti del carburante e dell’energia a causa della guerra in Iran, hanno detto al Telegraaf fonti vicine al governo. Il governo presenterà alle 11.30 un pacchetto di misure destinate a proteggere il potere d’acquisto dei cittadini. Oggi entrerà in vigore anche il piano nazionale contro la crisi petrolifera.”

Hopefully Belgium will do the same: “Dutch government considering cuts to public transport cost in response to energy crisis”

No, the Flemish government will instead force civil servants to physically come to the office more often.

No let us not hope they do this.
Let us hope instead they stop trying to privatise the public transport and realise that the governement should be a service provider

Openbaar vervoer is al heel wat goedkoper in België dan in Nederland

I really don’t believe fare price is the prohibitive factor in Belgium for people to use public transport instead of a car.

  5. Unfortunately that will never happen under a NVA government/minister of mobility. If anything they will somehow spin this as an excuse to cut our public transport’s budget even further

A lot of people don’t have decent access to public transport. I doubt this will make many people suddenly use public transport.

So the effect would be a discount for the people that already dont use oil.

Nothing is free. So that would come from taxes. Resulting in either lower quality in other government responsibilities(lower pensions?) or higher taxes.

Yeah, now would be a great time to restructure the wage-cost (both for employers and employees)by removing this idiotic idea of the company car as one of the few viable ways for a employers to raise an employees wage without raising the taxed level too much.

Hopefully in a coherent and well-thaught-out- way (it is belgium so its level impossible). And reinvest in the degrading public transport.

    Just my opinion i suppose.

You may hope, but expect nothing. De Wever giving “handouts” to “the poor”?

Sadly, Belgium seems obsessed with punishing the poor.

Our problem is mostly with coverage. Adding busses and train lines would help but you can’t invent cars and drivers out of thin air in weeks.

I’m in Tasmania now and public transport is free here. I was surprised how quickly they implemented it.

There are so many stupid rules they could stop to support and encourage solar energy,
