You do realize it’s not the cost but the amount of theft on energy drink? There’s two schools and two small stores in my area and energy drinks are one of the most stolen item in them.

Some places just stick those on whatever is being stolen most.
Not hard to believe kids will steal energy drinks. Some places won’t even sell them to kids. Might as well then steal whichever you like most, even if it’s cheap.

I was working in a store where the shop manager hired someone to put these in every single chocolate bar that was not the absolute cheapest ones. They probably had a huge theft wave like we did. Hapened everytime summer break started in my area.

Yes. Any other questions?

Those tags are dirt cheap so its more about just tagging everything that is getting stolen a lot. Since those are so cheap they might need to sell 10 cans to just break even on one being stolen so they either deter theft or stop selling cheap that is getting stolen.

economic indicator – unfortunately. We can definitely talk about whether or not it makes sense to steal those, but things like this are fairly well observed and documented to be dismissed with “naah it’s not the state of economy”

Of course! We can’t be giving people with loose morale more energy.

Machine marked me at Idl self checkout to be checked because I had risk items in my backet. I asked what items, employee made a nervous apologetic smile, that its the two chocolate doughts. They simply started marking most often stolen items.

lidl in niitykumpu, the only thing with anti-theft tag i noticed in the meat/cheese aisle was the oltermanni 😀 price is definitely not the main contributor
