I support the strikers. From what I grasp from the deal, their work-life balance was in jeopardy. Can you imagine not knowing what your schedule will look like next week? Not being able to make plans with friends, with your family? Not knowing if you’ll be able to pick up your kid from school because your shift suddenly became longer?

It’s a hard, physical job. I don’t know much about it other than I could not do it. They deserve a deal that values them.

If people stopped revolting, we’d become the US, one social right at a time. Say what you will about laziness or slowness in Belgium, this is what a humane work-life balance is supposed to be like, and it takes a lot of energy to defend it from globalization.

I don’t work for B-Post but if the plan was to make their life shittier just to gain a competitive edge, putting at risk the very essence of what gives that job its dignity, I say they’re right to cripple the post system. I’ll gladly wait my packages out, important and not important alike, if it means postmen and postwomen get what they deserve.

I guess that should serve as a forecast of what privatizing public service might lead to…

Ik ben niet zo bekend met de post industrie, maar kunnen we niet gewoon overschakelen op PostNL, FedEx, UPS, DHL, DPD etc? Of zijn die ook geblokkeerd?

Wel ze hebben mijn volledige steun. Die mensen staken niet voor hun plezier maar voor hun toekomst. Het is nu niet dat de post ze ondertussen loon betaald, ze moet het met een kleine stakers premie doen, als ze al gesyndiceerd zijn. Degene die er zich druk in maakt dat hij tijdelijk zijn pakje niet krijgt is gewoon een groot egoïstje.
