    1. This is possibly the most reverse uno popular decision Trumpinator could make to please the average German.

It’s an absolute idle thread. The importance of e.g. Ramstein air base is significantly larger for the US than it is for Germany.

The US government is STUDYING something, that is a positive change… maybe they even learn and understand a thing.

I really lost sight of what is going on. These bases are heavily used by the US for all sorts of operations. In exchange, there used to be the threat of US retaliation vs someone attacking Germany.

I guess Germany can’t rely on the US for defending against let’s say Russia. So what benefits do these US bases actually have for Germany? I can’t imagine it is all about local effects on the economy.

Do it and start with Ramstein.
That’s right, they will never give up their bases because they’re too important for their power projection.

It’s ironic. Like, if the US hadn’t been threatening to withdraw from the world, and take steps, it might not be so feeble with regards to Iran and Hormuz.

Not that I’m pro-US “strategic”  plans here, nor the Iranian regime, but like, threatening allies, being rude and belligerent, being more isolationist… not a good strategy when it comes to war plans in far away that need nearby allies. Is it?

Fewer American troops in Germany? No one will miss them except the US forces itself. Maybe pizza and burger places near bases.

Several steps closer to a Common European Army, several steps back for the global military hegemony of the United States of America.

      That’s what I call a “Doppelwumms”.
