Interesting admission from Turkeys main opposition leader, he openly complained that Turkey is being excluded in the Eastern Mediterranean and that even the Turkic states closest to Turkey have not recognized TRNC.. He also criticized Syria’s president for attending the EU summit in Nicosia and not crossing to the occupied north. This shows the core problem with Turkeys twostate policy that even after decades only Turkey recognizes it, while the RoC continues to be treated internationally as the state of Cyprus

You realize what Turkey asks at every occasion is to end the isolation of TCs?

He’s very obviously not saying this in a positive or conciliatory way. People really need to stop pretending the Turkish opposition is somehow magically soft on Cyprus just because they call themselves social democrats or progressives.

If anything, they are even more hardline on Cyprus and Greece rhetorically than Erdogan is. People also conveniently forget it was this same political party that invaded Cyprus in the first place.

He’s not saying this because he thinks Turkey made a mistake and should “fix” it. He’s saying it because he believes Erdogan has mismanaged Turkey’s control and influence over its puppet state in the north.
