You can also write the answers in Azerbaijani Turkish; I’m Turkish, so I can understand it. I posted the message in English because I don’t know how to write it in Azerbaijani Turkish.

Yes, like in most countries, there are quite a lot of otaku in Azerbaijan.

In Azerbaijan, most otaku merchandise like manga and anime DVDs are sold in book stores. They are almost always imported from Russia, so they are predominantly in Russian. Popular streaming services like Crunchyroll are available in the country as well.

There are also quite a few otaku conventions in the country. They are usually a part of larger gaming/nerd conventions, even though they form like, 70% of the audience there. The largest convention is the Gamesummit that I attended thrice, and it had a lot of cosplayers from Russia and Kazakhstan. Though it’s not hosted this year… and I have no idea why.

In fact, my Armenian friend complained that almost all Caucasian VN readers he found online are Azerbaijani, so interpret that as you will.

I watch partially via pirate platforms and partially via Crunchyroll.

We don’t have manga in Azeri yet, at least I haven’t heard of it, so I have to read it in other languages. I knew some dudes who learned Japanese to read in original.

      >Is there am anime and manga culture in Azerbaijan?

Yes, there is. I don’t know how big it is tho. A few thousand would be my best guess .

      >Are there places that legally distribute this content, or do you consume it through pirated sources?

Both. Suprisingly, there are some stores that sell manga.

Anime saytı olaraq Anifan və Tengoku Fansub var, başqa saytlar varsa, mən bilmirəm.

My husband and his friends grew up on anime with Russian dubbing (Baku natives), and I don’t think they could ever find dubbing in Azeri. They definitely pirated it
