Ilia II lascia dietro di sé una Chiesa potente ma personalizzata, influente ma internamente disomogenea, venerata ma politicamente contestata. Shio III eredita non solo un trono, ma una contraddizione: la Chiesa ortodossa georgiana è diventata forte grazie all’autorità di un uomo, e ora deve sopravvivere alla scomparsa di quell’uomo.

      Church is strong because it has influence over big chunk of population. Therefore government relies on it for propaganda and also gives church itself and individual members money to do this propaganda and grow this influence further. Same way church grows government influence too. Its a symbiotic relationship.

      So it doesn’t really matter who is head of church. When churches, as an establishment, main interest is to grow own influence. So head will always be doing that. Otherwise he will stop being head very fast.

      Of course church has members who are progressive, against government etc. But this is exception not a rule.
