SOSPIRO. Dietro le nostre sedie esterne c’è ora un nido costruito molto male con due uova e un piccione molto persistente. C’è qualcuno che possiamo chiamare per ritirare le uova?

Davvero non voglio allevare un’intera famiglia di piccioni qui….

    A Vevey.

Some cities have programs to reduce pigeon population. I would call the city to ask what to do they might want to get rid of it. Lucky it’s not a duck because then it’s protected.

You better throw away it ASAP, it will become really nasty and full of fleas soon.

Just telling that once they settled in they will come back again and again and again, you can even throw the eggs away, there will be new ones in a few weeks. If you wanna solve the problem after dealing with this batch you should order a web already.

    4. The same happened to me. I removed the eggs and while cleaning a couple of pigeons attacked me. They kept coming just to stare at me. Eventually, they forgave me. The directions of the municipality is to get rid of the eggs asap. Once there are baby pigeons, you cannot kill them. You have to call a professional to do the job. You might get charged.

You’ve ascended to pigeon‑mom status. Fate has spoken.

Remove the eggs and nest. I kept once a nest with two eggs on my balcony, because I thought it is something good to support them, and the dirt after they grew up was unbelievable. When they grew up, the two parent pigeons laid again 2 eggs, and the two grown ups also continued to come to the balcony, so 4 pigeons + 2 eggs. I removed these eggs immediately and my husband cleaned the balcony, was a lot of work with mask, gloves, etc. Please do not make the same mistake as I.

So fun fact about pigeons: they’re originally a rock dwelling cliff bird that lives along coasts. Our buildings accidentally look like cliffs at the seaside.

Their nests aren’t built to be fluffy warm homes for their checks, but rather simply to keep their eggs from rolling off the cliffs. Basically there wasn’t enough material around/big nests caught wind and dropped when they evolved so they got used to making these kind of shitty nests.

Also, I don’t know why everyone here hates pigeons so much. They’re part of our city. They’re part of every city. They’ll be with humanity until our end. Let them raise their chicks.

Well, if you don’t get rid of it now. You will have 5cm thick layer of shit on all of your balcony to scrap off. And on everything you keep in your balcony.

Not to mention – pigeons are going back to the places they were born. So for next few years you will have to deal with that again and again

I made a mistake, I thought I will be Disney princess and keep „new life” in my balcony. Never again, they are biohazard, they have to go.

      Choice is yours though

My Aunt drove from Geneva to Schaffhausen to release a pigeon that made a nest on her window and kept coming back. They can find their way back up to a few hundred km.

Do they taste good? How do they compare in taste to chicken eggs? Anyone has experience? 😅
