Particularly annoying that they could do this for all users, but just want to keep ripping off anyone not directly benefiting from this decision.

Oh yeah Apple, the absolute horror of the thought of being able to pair my non-Apple headphones in one tap instead of a slow and tedious process, such a big threat for end users!
