Dopo la battaglia di Vienna del 1683, la corte Qing inviò una lettera di congratulazioni a Giovanni III Sobieski di Polonia-Lituania. Intorno al 1685, secondo quanto riferito, Giovanni III presentò il suo ritratto all’imperatore Kangxi. Il dono fu ben accolto e l’imperatore rispose personalmente con un elogio funebre per il re polacco.

One of the biggest political mistakes in our history. Sobieski shouldn’t even move a finger to rescue or not our territory or demand a large payment for help or take it by yourself after Austrians didn’t pay anything. One the biggest lessons for us that we should never help others if we don’t have any interest in it.
