This is a major issue and needs to be addressed. Instead of the online safety act there should be something along the lines of an online transparency act. All social media accounts should show the country of origin, all ai videos and photos need to be massively branded as such so it becomes undeniable.
At this rate democracy will fall world wide just because billionaires want more money. Sickening really

And this is why the government should legislate that any political messaging has to say if it used AI for any of it.
Make it a big bold box at the top of the screen saying “AI GENERATED MEDIA”, and for parties who are found to breach it, they should have to play apology videos of the same length and cost of the message pulled.
..and not make it judged by OfCom, but Electoral COmmission instead.
This is a huge problem but I can’t see it going away. Trump didn’t have Zuckerberg and Musk aligned with him at his inauguration for no reason. Social media is slowly becoming lost to opportunist scammers living outside the UK running the country down. They have no answers to the questions out country faces, just hate.

I was unavoidably shoulder surfing a chap on the train this morning scrolling through his Youtube homepage and ***every single video*** was some kind of AI thumbnail slop about Trump, Musk, Tommy R, Farage… Every video. People’s brains are being deliberately poisoned and manipulated and they simply do not realise, or care.
I can’t understand how people are happy to sit and absorb this hate content non stop, all day long. It must just make them miserable 24/7?
But how do you fix it? You can’t enforce control over what media gets spewed out because at that point you’re just as bad as the foreign bots and you become their enemy because “it’s all about control”. Is this generation just doomed and already brainwashed? Do we just have to start educating kids these days about content algorithms and foreign manipulation and hope that they grow up with an ability to recognise this kind of thing?
People are starting to realise the extent of what’s happening but honestly I don’t think people truly see just how fucked we are. This is likely the beginning of the end for the prosperity of the west, things are only going to get much worse.

The UK is in decline, I’ve seen it with my own eyes. It’s terrible. The only thing propping up economic growth recently has been mass immigration. People are worse off than they were 10-15 years ago.
Successive disasters in policy and government have led it to the point people think reform are somehow going to magically make things better. It will only get worse.
The narrative of decline. And the narrative of division.
I’ve been saying this about Labour since the day they were elected ( I’m not saying their own messaging hasn’t been awful because it has ) but there’s been a target hate campaign all over social media since the day they were elected. All you have to do is follow the hashtags eg Liebour, Rachael Thieves, starmergeddon, StarmeTtraitor, Starmer out, KeirPressure, TheGreatResettlement, TwoTierKeir, RedTapeRedParty, TaxpayerTraumaTeam the list goes on and on.
All over social media. People read this, follow the sentiment and suddenly we have a whole bunch of people who don’t know better piling on and saying the same thing.
It’s massive outside manipulation of our democracy. I won’t even comment on who could possible be funding this, but whoever it is they want division in this country, and they’re succeeding.
I’m not going to even get into the rise of Reform, or the kind of hate now being thrown at the Greens.
It’s need addressing by Gov, but here in lies the rub, you can see the anti gov hahstags and hate now if they try and address it.

If the stuff comes from ‘hostile countries’ e.g. Russia and is pushed by social media algorithms the SM companies the SM companies should be appearing in court if they don’t take it down or block it. Create a new offence if necessary.
