For those outside the U.K: this is not a reflection on lack of support for Ukraine but more to do with petty local politics and that political party’s recent election pledge to only fly U.K. related flags – presumably to appeal to the nationalist ‘far-right’ electors.

They claim they’ll re-fly the Ukraine flag in another location.

They could easily have figured that out beforehand and moved the flag to a new location immediately with renewed publicity for the local support of Ukraine – but that would require intelligence, joined-up thinking and planning!

Fact of the matter is that Ukraine is not part of the UK, and council offices are part of the government process. IMO all government and public buildings in the UK should fly the union flag only.

This bears no reflection on the UK’s support of the Ukrainian people and their fight against the Russian aggressors

Reform is funded by Russia. They had a member literally jailed for accepting Russian bribes.

Reform is just the same type of politics as Trumpism but catered to British morons instead of American ones.

Hopefully, by the next election, Putin will have fallen, Trump will be gone unless he literally changes the US election system, and we should be in a position where Russian assets no longer have as much influence in politics here.

      … Hopefully.

It does no harm to leave it and shows solidarity with a nation that is fighting for democracy against an imperial invader within Europe. A petty and pointless thing to take it down.

    6. Yeah cause the guy who will say anything on cameo for a small fee totally wouldn’t get bought out by the Russians within 2 seconds.

For non-British readers: *Reform* (or Reform UK) is a political party representing a radical right-wing, pro-Kremlin stance. Reform (originally called the *Brexit Party*) emerged from an internal split within the radical right-wing, pro-Kremlin UKIP party in 2018. Since 2024, Reform has been led by Nigel Farage, who previously served as the leader of UKIP every now and then.

    8. Do not become the next USA. Western democracies have to understand their democratic processes are being subverted by bad actors. Regardless of how hard life currently is due to global events, it’s not worth voting with emotions without an understanding of geopolitical factors. Otherwise your life will only be harder when the bad actors rise to power and take away your democratic rights to remove them. Ask the Americans, they know. Raise awareness among your compatriots if you value your democracy.

When offices start removing Ukraine flags – do not sleep on it. The other red flag is removal of EU flag. The evil is lurking always behind the corner.

Everyone I know in UK is pro Ukraine. Flags in lots of places. lowering a couple at the couple office means jack all for the UKs commitment to the Ukrainian people.

To our shame as Brits we have sinned greatly. Successive Labour and Tory governments let Putin and Russian oligarchs launder their dirty money in the City of London. We opened the door for future corruption and Reform is the result.

Farage is run by Trump and Trump is run by Putin.

This country is fucking pathetic if we elect a white supremacist like Farage.

Of course – they are bought and paid for by Putin.

Remember that, then they tear the country apart on your vote…
