Jaysus it’s a by election in a constituency they are strong in. You’d swear they’d won in mayo or something.

They are the ultimate media darling party

Hope SD can keep this momentum up and actually expand to the point they are running a candidate in every constituency in the next GE.

Mary Lou is going to have to close ranks a d try to define Sinn Fein.

Very embarrassing for them not to be able to drum up support in their home and leaders constituency with the added cherry of Hutch transfers.

Crazy to think there was a time FF was able to bring home two seats in that consistency.

People can call me a party puppet or whatever all they want, but the socdems have put a lot of work into showing that they care about leading the country for all instead of just scratching each other’s backs like the other showers. I’ve been giving them my number 1 the last few elections now and hope they stay true to their word if they get more seats next GE.

Fully expect their agenda to by stymied either by Irish political bureaucracy or by having to kowtow to whomever they might have to form a coalition with. Which might see them getting the green party treatment and promptly voted out in the following GE. Assuming they stay true to their word to begin with as well. But after having FG/FF in power all my life (I’m 31) I want to believe that they could bring some serious change if given a chance.

Hopefully they run someone new in Waterford at the next GE. Mary Roche is a solid local councillor but she’ll never take a dáil seat down here.
