      I think it’s interesting that “калі” means both “when” and “if”. There are ways to specify any nuances but they are longer than one word (edit: as I’ve just been reminded, we can also use the word “як” to say “if” but that word normally have other meanings). We used to have designated words but eventually ended up just using “калі”. I wonder if it says anything about our history and mentality.
