When the brain is Glenn Bedingfield, it shows how low the bar has become.

When our aim is quantity over quality, this is when you end up with.

What will harsher fines achieve except to perhaps raise more money on the offchance they are enforced? Look, personally I don’t care, increase them as much as they want.

But for this to be a deterrent then the fines would have to be known about in advance by tourists and that would need an advertising campaign which is likely to cost more than the fines would bring in (again….assuming they ever get enforced).

I’m all for curbing the rowdier elements of the tourist hoardes but I don’t see what this achieves.

Increase the fines, and also fine the property owners of the hotels/Airbnbs where they happen. Ban short lets entirely. Or at the very least, increase taxes on short lets for stays shorter than a week.
