This is a bit like Benny in F1. People tend to endorse someone who has the power to make their life very miserable. I think Infantino and his FIFA have shown with this world cup that they DGAF and are going full on for a scripted circus like most American sports.

The problem is that the weight of a St Kitts and Nevis matches that of a Brazil, therefore all he has to do is appeal to these smaller nations (tournament expansion, more money) and they will keep backing him.

The FIFA president is elected by national federations on the basis of one country = one vote.

Infantino already bought Concacaf, African and Asian federations’ loyalty by expanding the World Cup to 48 teams >!(and by covering the many internal scandals and crimes happening in said federations)!<, the talks about extending it to 64 is only getting further with that idea.

Good. The FIFA shouldn’t just cater to Western countries.

And what did the Belgian FA do after the 1-4 victory against the USA? Nothing.

The football world is just a lasagne of corruption. One layer on top of another.

      > This caused a big stir in Belgium understandably and we were maybe hoping that interfering with the game the Belgian national team had to play might lead to some consequences for the top of FIFA.

It caused a big stir *worldwide* among fans.
But the reason FIFA did this is because they don’t have to care. I doubt many people refused to watch the WC.
I was boycotting the cup and even *I* needed to google the score when waking up the day before.
