Take the direct route. Nothing worth a brief stop on longer ones.
Use the 4h 31min if 5hr is too long its actually faster and has more scenic drive than straight anyway
5h is nicest drive
With these weathers you might appreciate a quick swim in Võrtsjärv midway. Other than that highway is highway, so up to you if spending the extra 45 minutes driving is worth it.
Just drive to Riga if that’s your intended destination. There’s zero reason to take the longer route, there’s nothing scenic there and the roads are much slower than the direct route.
If not planning to stop then scenery is the same on both roads. On the right one there’s a brief section in the middle when you turn off from the Tallinn-Tartu highway, one of the main highways of Estonia to the smaller roads, but then about 50km later it joins back onto the Tartu-Valga highway. So mostly you are on the same level of highways on both routes.
There are a lot of roadworks going on everywhere at the moment. So better have an extra half an hour to an hour. Check the official site [https://tarktee.ee](https://tarktee.ee) for ongoing diversions. The via baltica route (left) has this diversion in the middle.

There ia nothing scenic for Estonians. If you are first time in Estonia and you have time – take the longer one. More peaceful roads and more nature for sure. It’s nothing too special but for a first timer – i think nice thing to do.
There is also route 9 towards Lihula, pretty ok too…
Take the shortest route and spend your brief stop on getting a bag of fried donuts from Sõõriku Bar in Pärnu’s old town, and enjoying those on the rest of the drive to Riga.
Definitely take the longer route, definitely nicer, less dangerous takeovers and youll see a bit
different Estonia.
Scenery is the same. If you want to make brief stops then imho Viljandi is much nicer city than Pärnu.
But there are plenty of stops you can make on e67 as well without any detours, e.g.
* stop in Pärnu for lunch and check out beach
* Tolkuse raba if you’re into nature
* Ainaži wave breaker
* Veczemju cliffs
Direct route is a motorway with trucks, roadworks, speedcameras and idiotic drivers.
Longer route is through smaller roads with 1% of the traffic and no speed cameras + it’s more beutiful than E67.
